How to grant admin rights to a normal windows user for making host file entry. (This solution is applicable for windows7,8,10)

Scenario- I have a windows 7 machine and in that there are 2 users one is administrator (Local administrator) and second one is normal user (Member of Users group) which does not have access to make host file entry. It asks for admin rights or admin account password

So now there is no access for second user making changes in host file. I am going to saw you how we can give access to that user for given only (read/write) access on this file.

Step 1- Login through administrator account and go to the path C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Step 2-  Right click on the hosts file and select properties after that select Security tab and click on edit button. (Here you will see users and group in the listed, you can see to which user is having what permission also)

After click Edit button it will ask to add user for giving required permission which you want to apply. Add that user from the list and give permission by check mark in Allow box.

Step 3- Click OK and close
Step 4- Now login through normal user which you have allowed access for this and make any test entry in the hosts file. It will not require any admin rights.
Run-C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc right click hosts file and after making changes save it.
